I used to collect toys. Lots of toys.
I’m pretty sure that most artists do. They’re like little pieces of art, and it’s pretty inspiring to have them around. Before I moved my office, I had two 4×8 ft display cases full of toys and lead figures. Life was good, but I needed a door and a little more room.
After having a kid and starting Steam Crow, I spend a little less money on toys than I used to. Now I just collect some Galactic Heroes, Shogun Warriors, and occasionally some monster toy that gets my attention. I don’t really need to do it… I just like to do it. I’ve really cut back though.
That said, I just found these fabulous BPRD Buddies over at the Mezco website:
I dig the Mr. Wink and Prince Nuada figs. Nuada has always been a nice Elric of Melnibone clone to me. I asked Mignola about his favorite con experience, and he said that meeting Michael Moorcock was very awesome for him, so there you go.
Yeah, I ordered myself a set, and because it’s almost my boy’s birthday, I ordered him a set too. Man, they’re not cheap, but they should really compliment my Galactic Heroes collection. For me, this is the ultimate Hellboy toy, next to the Mezco comic Hellboy toys.

I needed to remind myself of the fire. It had been a few cells since then.
Have you ever experimented with vac-molding or blow molding plastic to make your own toys?
I’ve done some cold-cast resin toys in the past, though they were somewhat crude.
It’s very, very hard to build an adequate likeness of one’s characters… I’m simply not a good enough sculptor yet. I’ve been trying to sculpt a Beastio, but no go. It just isn’t good enough to share.
I’m not sure what was stated above. I speak dork in many different subjects but all of this went over my head. No offense Daniel…. Lol.
I enjoy seeing what other people are obsessed about, toys, motorcycles, horses, skittles, photography, dumpster diving and many other things inbetween. A lot of my friends are strange people like this…. Makes my life interesting…
No problem. There’s a lot of info out there to try to understand.
I’ve fallen in love with Star Wars and Marvel Mighty Muggs in the past couple of years. The are pretty awesome. I also really like the Galactic Heroes/Super Hero Squad minis. Those hellboy toys are pretty sweet.
Yeah, I’ve got some Muggs too. Mine are the Star Wars ones.
The smaller Galactic Heroes are more to my liking, since they are smaller and cheaper.
I’m trying to think, but nothing happens!

Just read all the archives comics yesterday, and I’ve found a new obsession. Keep up the good work and thanks for making an awesome comic, great storyline, amazing ilustrations.
