Eventually the Manlings on the surface were fighting a mighty war, when one nation launched a bomb against the other.
The bomb cracked open the world, and all of the monsters crawled out, free from the slavery of the Gorgoth.
In their excitement, the monsters celebrated and tried to hug the Manlings, but their claws and scales tore flesh and rended bone. The Manlings, in terror of the beasts that crawled from the depths to attack them, hid behind their walled kingdoms.
The Manlings continued to live in fear, even as the Monsters themselves celebrated them.
