Monster Commute – a Traffic Novel

I have a couple, very favorite monsters from fantasy and Dungeons and Dragons, even since I was a skinny teenager. I’ve collected lots of figures of both of them, and I have to still admit some love for theses creatures:

(In reverse order)

#1. Minotaurs. There’s something primal about a minotaur, and out of a lot of beasts in the Monster Manual, the minotaur seems like it could just be possible. Also, it’s the name of the upcoming Pixies boxed set, a favorite band of mine.

#2. Golems. I’ve frikkin’ loved golems from day one. It’s likely because of the brass Minoton from Sinbad and Talos from Jason and the Argonauts, if I had to guess. Just the idea of an iron man tickles me to death, and I like imagining rusting iron golems sitting around for centuries ready to be activated to spring upon an unsuspecting party.

The idea of people able to crawl inside of an iron golem to pilot it, is even better. I’ve been wanting to do something like this in Monster Commute since day one, so it was a joy to finally get to do it.
