The Heat Is On

I like costumes.

No, nothing too funky. I just appreciate a good costume, that’s all.

I think it has to do with Halloween. I LOVED being someone else… a monster from Saturday Afternoon cinema. Especially if it had fangs. I liked that prop quite a lot.

I’d put in my fangs (when I had them,) and then put red food coloring in my mouth. I’d go around drooling on everything and looking at myself in the mirror. I remember scrunching up my nose to look like a wolfman. (Little did I know that “lycanthrope” was a more nirdy sounding name.)

This all went on until my mom noticed red drops of dye all over the carpet. And clothes. And towels.

Trouble, my friends, is red.

Update:

For fun, here’s the original (costume) version of our new character Mr. Steam:

Beatnik Beastio is funny… makes me think of bongo drums and beat poetry, mannnnn….

I figured Beastio would have drawn a disguise on Chadworth’s dome by now, and hung a sign reading “Not Chadworth” around his ersatz neck.

I don’t know why, but something about the mask reminds me of a horror move I saw as a kid. Some guy got killed in the jungle and came back as a tree monster. My 7 year-old heart nearly exploded!! Creature Feature gave me nightmares!
