A year has passed for our friends who yet find themselves in traffic.
I thought that this piece, in particular, was a good way to mark a change for the strip. Obviously, it implies a couple of different things… which I’ll leave up to you.
I wish that I could afford to spend this much time on each strip, but I can’t. At least half of the time was just tweaking the colors.
This strip is also an ode to one of my favorite illustrators, Alphonse Mucha. In particular, his 4 Seasons print is pretty dazzling. I thought that it was an excellent way to show the passage of time, so apologies to the ghost of Mucha!
If you’re so compelled, it’s also available a 12×18 art print for $20. (Go there to see a larger version, too!)
The colors are more rich and warm in the print, and not to sound smug, but I’m proud of how it turned out.
And yes, that beard is getting gnarly. I’m trying to convince my mustache to go handlebar.
See you Monday.

This strip is absolutely gorgeous! Well done! The color-tweaking really paid off!
Ethan – Well, my face thinks so. I’m starting to look like a criminal.
SmilinPHX – Har! Again with the crazy funny talk. Keep it coming.
Anna – Thanks! This one turned out pretty close to what I was seeing in my head.

OMG. that is absolutely gorgeous. well, chalk up another $20 to my tab at ECCC…
wow… one year? congrats and great artwork!
No, I didn’t spend a YEAR on this artwork… but I did spend nearly 8 hours, I think. The year is in reference to the strip… another year has passed in the world. In traffic.
Please be sure to have some of these prints at WonderCon!
You know, if there was some way to make that into four separate panels about three feet high, I have a blank wall here in my living room they’d dress up quite nicely.
Actually, there is a way to do that. I have access to a giclee printer to put these on canvas.
They would look really, really nice.
Wows. This is beautiful. And your facial hair ain’t to shabby either. Looks like workin’ out o’ da home is payin’ off, both in terms of artwork and beard.
Daniel,
ive gotta tell ya that i kinda like the fact that there seems to only be males in this world. Even celestial beings… Perhaps re birth comes from recycling parts. Maybe thats how Chadworth came to be…
Also, i just went back to school for Graphic Design (im 35 and in B-ham washington)
and your work makes me wanna get better. ive officially had 3 days with Ai…..and im excited for my future. Glad to count your work as an inspiration.-thanks-

Whoah, that actually wasn’t intentional. I’ve got a couple of female characters that I’ve been working on, but just haven’t gotten very far yet. Certainly this might imply that females are rare?
B-ham? One of my best friends lives in Blaine.
Keep working in Illustrator. It has a fairly high learning curve to drawing in it, but you can do it. It just takes time and lots of practice. Personally, I love using the pen tool. Others swear by the Wacom. Keep at it and you’ll figure it out.
Canvas, I like the sound of that.
Let me know if you can get some numbers on that, this blank wall is trying my patience and tolerance.
