Halloween Golems
Halloween Golems were created in the frontier times, when the lands of MONSTRU were wild and untamed. They were initially called “Farm Golems” but the name never really stuck and they’ve been known as “Halloween Golems” ever since.
The Halloween Golems were created to assist borderland farmers to bring in the first harvests by Halloween. They were also created to help clear the wilderness of forests, so that the beasts that resided within could be driven away and roads and settlements could be brought in. They are good at general farming and rather excellent woodsmen, able to split 8 cords of wood per day with very little effort.
All in all, they were very successful and important to the early development of MONSTRU.
A century later, the land was cleared and there seemed to be little use for these farmhands any longer. Initially they were drafted into a fighting force, though they were largely ineffective due to their inability to participate in large mobile efforts.
Some were sent to scrap heaps while most of the others were converted into mobile vending machines.
Creation
The Farm Golems were invented by genius inventor Mig Nola a few years after his creation of the “Machine Man.” The first set of 8 prototypes were very promising and quite efficient, though they were prone to “malfunction” and one destroyed an entire village in in a single insane attack. (The flesh forest.) This flaw (insanity) weighed heavily on Nola’s conscience; he rounded up 5 of the 8 and had them reduced to scrap metal. The other 3 were never located.
The accident was kept under wraps, allowing for the Mark II Farm Golems to become a success.

There’s something not right with the art in that last panel…
Some time ago someone, I’m not sure who it was, posted some pics somewhere of a proper Vend-o-mat wandering lost in suburbia, you should have used those as a reference.
I just wish I could remember where I saw them…
Your right, the head is larger in this illustration then it was in the pictures. Then again, there could be different models/sizes/conversion types. Perhaps this is a small Vend-o-mat for the kiddie daemons of Monsteru? Only Daniel can set the record strait.
Yep, yep. There are different versions of Halloween Golems.
These bigger roundy heads are the early ones; the smaller more squashed heads (like the costume) are likely the later ones.
I didn’t want to mix and match for this as I didn’t want to confuse the transformation from Halloween golem to Vend-o-mat, that’s all.
I was just being a bit facetious and all…
Just suck the humor right out of my little joke, why don’t you?
Now I have to go kick a furnace goblin or punch a crowbot or something so I’ll feel better.
Ah, that wasn’t my intent, Sir
Sometimes humor is difficult to detect via the interwebs, Mr. Marrock.
BTW, you guy’s daily comments keep me going. I thank you for that.
- Daniel
I like where the comic is going from a story telling standpoint Daniel. It has that whole ‘Sins of the Father’ thing going on. The Authority is built around the technology and infrastructure Mig Nola developed, and now that it has been perverted by the Authority, it’s up to his ‘pure’ children to possibly restore it. Kip’s interaction with his father has really been awesome to me, no doubt he is one of the original 8 insane prototypes that escaped.
Can’t wait to see some Chadworth again too, hopefully soon! It’s been nearly 8 months since the explosion.
What other sort of products does GOLEM corp produce?
Golem Corp never really manufactured the Farm Golems… though they did eventually take over the operations of Factoria, claiming each and every patent.
If I heard right, Golem Corp is almost more of a political party than anything else these days.
