When I was a teen, my family used wood cook stoves to heat our home. If you’ve not seen one, they’re big, cast-iron monstrosities, that eat wood, coal, or maybe even peat. Anyway, it was my chore to keep the wood chopped and stocked, for our fire. This meant split wood and kindling. Now, my [...]

Stuff I’m working on: – Prepping to do a guest talk at Art Institute of Phoenix, for a business/art class – Preparing for our Red Hot Robot / Monster Commute anniversary party – Illustrating a 2-color serigraph print for Halloween – Getting ready to travel for work – Helping my son with his spelling words [...]
When I lived on the farm, my step-dad had a license for explosives. No, he wasn’t a spy or a registered terrorist or anything like that. He had a well-drilling business, and a well-drilling license, which allowed you to purchase and own TNT. As a teen, this was kinda cool, as I got to watch [...]
I’m looking into doing some silkscreen (serigraph) prints of my artwork. Probably all new stuff, as everything that I usually do is mega-multi-color. Anyway, I’m excited, as I’ve wanted to do some serigraph prints for years. The toughest part; finding someone who will print them for me. More details as they arise. – Daniel
Thought of the day: “Only eat the meat that you kill.” or “Banana is a both a flavor and a color.” You pick. – Daniel
Here are a few of my favorite comics: – Aliens: Salvation – First Mignola comic I ever read. I think. Either that or Bram Stoker’s Dracula graphic novel. Loved both, though Aliens is the better book. – Hellboy Series – Pretty much the entire series that Mignola draws starting with Seed of Destruction. – Maus [...]
Well, so far this year we’ve done eight events, seven of which were public. That excludes the TINY ARMY stuff that I do about 12 times per year. While I’d like to do more, I’m feeling like 13-14 events per year is about as much as we can handle. If they were spread out equally, [...]
Our Vend-O-Mat has recently gone missing. #4 has served us well, and has outlived the 30 other Steam Crow Vend-O-Mats that has served us for over 80 years. Door-to-door sales may have declined in the ’70′s and ’80′s, but that never stopped him from turning a profit every quarter. Of late, his radio transponder was [...]
My steampunk pal Nick Baumann is the best steampunk costumer out there that I’ve ever seen. The quality of his costumes is nothing short of amazing, with thick leathers and brass buckles galore. They’re fabulous, both in design and detail, and wear-ability. When I heard that Nick (and team) was going to be producing some [...]
I’ve seen a huge wave of steampunk rise in just the last 2 years, and it’s great. People are dressing punk, talking punk, and are donning goggles at this meetup and that. With this “instant” popularity suddenly exploding after years of obscurity, I think that steampunk could be in real trouble. Steampunk could be a [...]
