Sproutkin
on April 17, 2009 at 8:57 amSo, my friend Rhode Montijo is a really fantastic illustrator. He draws upon this other world that is sort of mezzo american/aztec mythology thing… that is always really striking to me. I love it, and all of the story and myth that is implied in his work.
Rhode is one of the creators of the “Happy Tree Friends” phenomena, and also one of the winners of the annual Xeric award; from which he produced Pablo’s Inferno. He’s also the author/illustrator of Cloudboy, and has illustrated the Melvin Beederman series.
Recently, he sculpted these “Sproutkin” characters, to be placed in terracotta pots:
