I know that I’ve done this before, but here are my favorite soundtracks to game to (Fantasy):
- Conan the Barbarian (For battle)
- Bram Stokers Dracula (For tension)
- Batman Returns (For dungeoneering)
- Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (For Adventure)
- Braveheart (Basic Adventure)
- Edward Scissorhands (Oddness)
- Harry Potter films
- Legend (when I’m feeling funky)
- Lord of the Rings soundtracks
- The Lost World soundtrack
- Pirates of the Caribean (General adventure)
- Pocahontis soundtrack
- Sleepy Hollow (Spooky stuff)
- And a few more…
As you can see, I’ve not gamed in a while and my soundtracks are suffering.
What are some good soundtracks to game to?
Also, I never thought about soundtracks for gaming in the Monster Commute universe! Geez!
Would these “fantasy” soundtracks be as appropriate for Monstru?
Should I be looking into some Jazz or something?
Or, would these be as good as anything else, to set the mood?
Something to consider, for sure.
What do you think?

Monster Commute plus smooth jazz… just wow.
Well, that probably doesn’t fit so well, but I’m just thinking about what you’d play to set the scene.
Soundtracks we’ve gotten some good use out of at our table include Gladiator, The Chronicles of Narnia (L,W, &W), and American McGee’s Alice. The last is the best creepy soundtrack I’ve ever had the pleasure of making use of.
Hm… I’ll have to check out Alice. I forgot about gladiator, we’ve used that a lot too.
There’s been a ton of great film soundtracks made in the last decade, for gaming.
IU know it’s a bit straightforward, But i’d swear there was an abney park song…. Plus the album Meteora by Linkin Park seems fitting.
Really? I’ll check em out.
Hope I help!
Rob Zombie is my soundtrack for everything.
I’ve found that Pandora is really good for this…. (or last.fm might work too) create a station and enter a couple good soundtracks, it will find more similar stuff… maybe not something you want to do live while playing but great for researching what’s good. I’ve also found my custom “soundtrack music” station can be great for just sitting down and drawing.
I’ve been using a ton of Cirque de Sole lately. Great feel for high fantasy.
