Vote for my Lando badge art

by Daniel on April 4, 2011 at 1:05 am

Hey there!

Please consider voting for my LANDO badge art, for the upcoming Phoenix Comicon.

Please vote for my badge art of Lando

You don’t even have to be going to the con; if you’re a BookFacer, just go here and LIKE it.

That’s it. Quick, and you’re done. I’ll wait.

I was really excited to learn that Billy Dee Williams was a guest at PHXCC, so it seemed like the perfect caricature to do of him… all Bespin’d out!

Thanks for voting!

Steam Crow at WonderCon 2011

by Daniel on March 21, 2011 at 12:08 pm

Yes, Steam Crow will be making our 6th appearance at WonderCon 2011!

It should be another great show, and you’ll find us way up in the front next to Studio Foglio, of Girl Genius. (Yay)

Our booth number is #604, though I have no idea if anybody really uses these things to find us. Just look for the new cream and brown striped header to our booth… you’ll find us!

KlawBerry wooden badge

We’ve got a whole host of new things to show you… new prints from our Classic Monsters line, some vintage-feeling wooden badges for your hat/lady/shirt/cat, and more stuff! Heck, this stuff is so fresh we’ve not even had time to photograph any of it. You’ll just have to come by and see it in person, Patriot.

Here’s that map as a pdf: steamcrow_wondercon_map

Ye Olde WonderCon facts:

  • Steam Crow Press’ first convention ever was WonderCon 2006. (Doing the math right now.)
  • Our first display was pretty lackluster. (See photo below.) Our banner was laminated… and SHINY!
  • After year one, we changed our name to “Steam Crow LLC” because we realized that we wanted to do more than be a press.
  • We once had one of our fans rush us to the airport after the con; we stowed our trunk on top of her old VW bug. We made it, barely.
  • Our all time book selling record was made in WonderCon. Yep, it’s true. (Back in the days when we told every single person who came to our table about our book. Now, we do too much to do that!)
  • Once we took a shuttle and the driver kept falling asleep at the wheel. He’d wake up and stomp on the break in a panic. Wasn’t very fun. I could see his eyes, and I kept coughing every-time he fell asleep. We were relieved to exit the shuttle, let me tell you.

So, if you’re anywhere near San Francisco, consider this a geas to get you to come see us!

Patriots OUT!

The 2011 Emerald City Comicon (ECCC) is right around the corner, and Steam Crow will be there at mega booth 106!

Here are some highlights of what we’re bringing to the show!

ECCC Exclusive Print

A parody of famous Dick’s Hamburgers, this print features the Steam Crew looking for a great Doomburger snack. I spent hours trying to capture the distinct vibe of “Dirk’s” and add lots of our own monsterpunk flair. A storm is brewing!

The print is:

  • Limited to an edition of 120 pieces
  • 12×18, printed on satin matte archival film
  • Hand numbered and signed by artist Daniel m. Davis
  • First come, first served! Our exclusive prints have been selling out FAST, so get one early!
  • A deal at $20 each!

Monster Commute 2 Debut

The debut of our new Monster Commute book happens at ECCC! Be one of the first folks to get your hands on our new collection!

The book features:

  • 80 pages collecting the next 60+ strips

New Prints

We’ve just made 3 brand new prints for the show! We’ll have limited numbers of each one, so if you want one make sure that you come to booth #106 early. Each measures 12×18, on archival film, and costs $20 at the show.

Underwater Car Wash – a variation of last year’s ECCC exclusive… underwater! Murky, sludgy, with nautilus and monster!

Belle et la Bete - Classic fairytale Beauty and the Beast… illustrated like a 1940′s movie poster!

Count Dracula – Based on the classic Brom Stoker book from 1897!

We’ll also be bringing our 8×10 Kawaii collection – deck out your kitchen, cube, or cubby.

Find us at booth #106! You can’t miss it, it’ll be huge!
We’ll be bringing more prints, buttons, books, and maybe even a couple resin-cast toys.

If there’s anything specific from our library of stuff that you’re after, LET US KNOW!

Leave a comment so that we know what to bring it!
See you there!

Emerald City Comic-Con Exclusive Print 2011

by Daniel on February 8, 2011 at 12:56 pm

Since the Emerald City Comicon is less than a month away, I thought that I’d share our brand new con exclusive print for the show!

Emerald City Comicon Exclusive Print

If you’re from Seattle, you’ll hopefully recognize it as a parody of the Dick’s Hamburgers restaurant chain, a Seattle landmark nearly as famous as the Space Needle.

We’ll be printing 120 of these and selling them at the show. They measure 12×18 inches, are printed on satin matte archival film, and will be hand numbered and signed by the artist! At $20 each, they’ve moved very quickly in the past as folks there have begun to collect our prints!

And I should say that Emerald City Comic-Con is a fabulous show; we’ll be there with a mega booth #106. If you look, you shouldn’t miss us.

Free Papercraft Car

by Daniel on January 25, 2011 at 6:36 pm

Free Monster Commute Papercraft car pdf. (4 megs. Requires assembly.)

So, I’ve been working on this surprise for you, for a long while now! Finally, after hours and hours of work, I got this papercraft car finished, and ready for you to put together.

It’s a cute and neat little thing, in honor of our Monster Commute Book II.

Those Patriots that pre-order the book before February 1st will get a professionally printed version of the car in their order! Printed on matte paper in fancy CMYK, your car will look especially sharp. (And won’t cost you expensive printer toner either.)

So, if you want me to send you a really nice printed steamcar, pre-order a book right now! I’ll try to throw in at least 2 for every order. If you’ve already pre-ordred, you of course get yours as well! (We wouldn’t punk a Patriot.)

At first we were going to make it an exclusive, but we decided to make a free print-it-yourself version too, as a free pdf. So heck, if you like it and appreciate it, you know what to do!

Like most else that we do, let us know that you like it, and maybe we’ll do some more. Comments are currency, folks. (So are links.)

Anyway, enjoy your papercraft steampunk car, and after you make yours, take a photo and post it on our Facebook page!
