Femme Fatale Print of the Week

by Daniel on May 9, 2011 at 7:50 am

And this week’s Steam Crow print of the week is the Femme Fatale!

I tried to make it like a modern Bride of Frankenstein type of character… but with an updated look.

And yeah, I love classic Bride of Frankenstein, but it’s not in the public domain. So, I made up my own monster-girl.

Order by Friday at midnight, and we’ll ship your print that next weekend! Price includes shipping and handling in the USA!

Order yours now!

Print of the Week: Beasts Love Books

by Daniel on May 4, 2011 at 7:42 am

It’s time for another brand new Print of the Week.

I’ve been wanting to do a Library “read” type of art print for some time now. I stepped down from the goblin tractor, and decided to create this “Beasts Love Books” print… to hopefully appeal to kids. (And writers, Librarians, and monster folk who did books.)

I could imagine this hanging in a Monstrunian public library… years before the Authority stepped up, and tore down all of them.

Order by Saturday eve, and we’ll ship this out to you Sunday night. (Drop it off in the post office.) You’ll get it doubleplusquick!

Los Angeles Festival of Books 2011

by Daniel on April 28, 2011 at 7:38 am

This weekend we find ourselves in Southern California for the LA Times Festival of Books.

We’ll be at booth #220, just around the corner from Baby Tattoo Books.

We’ve only done two other book shows in the past, the most recent was the Tucson Book Festival. Tucson was a really great show, and we had our best first-time show there, which was doubly cool. Cool folks in Tucson; I’d like to do more there in the future.

Now that we have 5 books, it feels like we’re “book centric” enough to do these book festivals. Heck, there are lots of folks doing them with only 1 book, so we’re fine in that regard.

New Stuff

We’re debuting a bunch more of our new wooden badges, which most folks have yet to see. (Only WonderCon and a Mesa Steampunk Street folks have seen them so far.) We have 7 new designs for the LA Book Fest, which is cool.

I promise to take some photos of them next week, when I finally have a brief chance to catch my breath. It’s been a spring of sprinting, let me tell you.

Here’s a few to tide you over for a bit.

If you’re anywhere near Los Angeles, please stop by the book fest, and say “hullo.” We’re bringing books, a new READ print, our wooden badges, new buttons, KlawBerry plushies, and a bunch of goggles – if you need those.

Should be a grand time and will mark the end of a BIG April for us,

Print of the week: the Minotaur

by Daniel on April 18, 2011 at 6:16 pm

Here’s our latest print of the week (POTW): The Minotaur.

Minotaur Movie Poster

Minotaur Movie Poster

I’m nuts about minotaurs. It’s true.

Ever since I saw 1977′s Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger, I’ve been really into this Greek beastie.

When I first discovered Dungeons and Dragons, I started collecting minotaur figures right away. I probably have more minotaurs than any other monster, aside from maybe golems. (Another monster love of mine.)

This print was an attempt to combine my love for old movie posters with the old D&D monster. I made him a bit awkward and funky, much like the weird combination of a bull and a man. I gave him a hurkin huge axe, so heavy and thick that it’d chop a warrior in two on friction alone.

I tried to limit the color palate quite a bit, and choose a color combo that I don’t normally use.

If you look closely, you can see Theseus there in the labyrinth, trailing some twine behind him so that he can find his way to freedom.

Print of the week works like this.

  1. I put up a print on SteamCrow.com, available for sale. (Not every week, but hopefully often.)
(I recommend the 12×18 print size – it’s the size that I make the art.)
  2. You order one by Friday at midnight. (Shipping is free in the USA.)
  3. We ship your print that weekend. (Most likely Sunday – going out Monday.)
  4. You get extras in every pre-order. (Postcard, sticker, buttons – stuff like that.)
  5. You get your print fast! Everyone is happy!

Get your Minotaur movie poster here at SteamCrow.com.

Thank you!

Print of the Week: Licorne Noire

by Daniel on April 11, 2011 at 12:34 pm

I’ve been wanting to do a “Print of the Week” for a while now, and finally got organized enough to do it with our first one: “Licorne Noire” or the “Dark Unicorn.”

Here’s how it works:

  • I offer a print on Monday.
  • You order anytime Monday – Friday.
  • It ships Sunday, with a bonus stuff! (Free postcard miniprint, a button and whatever else I’ve got handy)
  • We recommend the 12×18 size – $24.00 (price includes shipping and handling in the USA.)

Here’s the print!

Dark Unicorn print

A horrible creature haunts the mad city of Darkvale; a construction that is a mockery of purity and honor; the Licorne Noire! Can Doctor Klovis bring an end this monstrosity?!

Pre-order yours by April 15th.
