I have a fear of going to a restaurant, ordering and eating the food, and then not having my wallet to pay.
Today, would they really make you stay and do the dishes?
(Maybe somebody who works in a restaurant will let us know how that works.)
Episode Notes:
I really enjoyed building this out as a week’s mini-storyline. We moved things along, but did it without dragging it out over weeks and weeks and weeks. (And it ties into the larger story, as well…)
I’m going to continue to experiment with this, and see if it makes for a more satisfying read. The next 2 weeks are nice little packages, too.
Have a weekend. (Or even a good weekend.)

Wow! Nice way to get a job and relive chapped tusks..
I really love the stylized hats they’re wearing!
As a side note, sometime when we go to a restaurant, we forget to bring cash, and some of the smaller places in the UK don’t have card machines. They’re usually happy to let one of the party go get money. If they know us (we tend to have our favorite haunts) they don’t even insist only one of us goes.
Doesn’t stop me checking I have the money before I go in though
You mean you’re supposed to pay for that stuff?
I used to work in a seafood restaurant as a dishwasher. One night a stoned-looking guy came in, had a plate of food and a couple of beers, and then offered to “wash dishes or something” to pay for it. The manager told him to get out. So I guess the lesson here is if you don’t have money you can pretty much eat for free.
