This is the first ever view of the Steam Crow kitchenette.
It’s actually based on real vintage kitchenettes that I researched. I wanted this to be somewhat based in reality, and to make some sense to answer the question “How does everything fit in there?”
The answer: TIGHTLY
The reverse side of the kitchen would be the bunks. To the right is the cab, and to the left is the furnace. The loo would be in the back, too.

True story:
I lived in a camping trailer (8×20) for 2 years during High School. 3 of us lived there, and it really isn’t much different than the Steam Crow in scale and functionality. In fact, the Crow is much taller than the trailer.
Jeeze, the more I think about it, the ‘Crow herself is probably subconsciously based on that old trailer; it’s color isn’t too far off.
Hope that you like it. Someday I’ll have to draw a floor plan diagram for you guys. (And me!)

Baking soda. MMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Spookly.
Reminds me of the soviet kitchens built by the Constructionists in the 30s. Many great ideas that have filtered down to to-day’s kitchen design, but ultimately failures in the short term because they didn’t ask people what they wanted.
The Constructionist movement is graphically really cool. I LOVE the sculpture from that era. It’s my favorite. Kitchens? Never seen Constructionist kitchens, but I’m pretty sure I’d like them too.
I dig the 50s kitchen.
Chummy! How do you equally divide a moth between 3?
Beastio = wing
Kip = wing
Chadworth = body
See, all is fair!
The moth does add a certain special tang to the meal.
It looks like they need to hit the black-top market fast! They’re almost out of savory baking soda!
When was the last time you saw the boys actually make any money?
About as big at my sister’s kitchen, maybe a smidge bigger?
I hope that baking soda and moth comes with a side of cardboard fries. That’ll stretch it out just dandy for the three of them.
I like the cardboard fries. I do.
I think I need one of those “No majik in the kitchen” signs.
MMMMMMMM… yummy
Dan,
A top view floor plan would be great. Are we also talking multi-level or are the furnace goblins in the back?
The Steam Crow is one level, though the furnace is in the back with 2 levels.
The gobins are below decks, back there.
There are smuggler’s compartments in the floor right there in the kitchen/bunk area.
I’ll get to them floorplans after the next book is done, maybe. (Or maybe make that part of the next book.)
