Alert reader Ethan Georgi turned me on to some cool steampunk music this week, from the “band” Beats Antique.
I’ve just given them a listen to, and I like the sound very much. It’s old feeling, but not old timey.

This music is also perfect for roleplay gaming, and I plan to use it for background atmospheric music when I Game Master the Monster Commute game.
Ethan gives a much more interesting review, here.
Give Beats Antique a listen!
Thanks Ethan!

Wow, that’s crazy! I found Beats Antique about 2 months ago on Bandcamp while I was looking for a Kickstarter invite. I really dig’em! You got’s the good tastes, Daniel!
“Monster Commute” is beautifully done.
Hey, thanks!
When my brood was in their teen years, it was sooo important to ride in the passenger seat.
We could be in the house and ready to leave and someone would yell “Shottie”, as the shotgun seat was most desired. Until.. I invented the “rubber rule”. If someone yelled “Shottie”, I yelled “rubber rule” and what was supposed to be their prize, bounced off them and to the next guy!
They learned quickly to shut their yappers and just get to the car seat without anybody “calling” their rights. It seems like a lifetime ago. (sigh)
That’s a great idea, JJ.
Since I’m the one that usually does the driving, I take it as my right to assign seats based on how I feel about the individual in question…
Pray… pray to any and all gods you believe in that you never get sent to the back of the vehicle…
Do you happen to also be a Father, Mr Marrock?
In college we had rules about shotgun. The tallest person gets automatic shotgun. That was usually me. There was also a rule about how you could only call shotgun after everyone was outside of the building you were leaving, but before anyone had touched the car. And then there were drivers you did not want to call shotgun for.
Ah, those were the days.
I think that we evolved some rules like that too.
Also, when the driver had a steady girlfriend, she got auto-shotgun. Meh!
