Sometimes, especially when you play RPGs, the dice just don’t help you.
(And you end up rolling badly, just like Kip did here.)
It sucks for the player, but occasionally bad rolls makes the game more fun. Especially fumbles. You’ve just got to be creative with the outcome.
What was the worst fumble you’ve ever had/seen?

Great opening lines there. Who is this “The Beard?” Is that Lincolnstein?
Have had/seen some bad fumbles. Something about teleporting through a wall. Something about breaking a magic two-handed broadsword against a lemur.
I was playing a
roguescout who had snuck up on some people who were sniping at the party with crossbows from behind cover. Cloaked with an invisibility spell, perfect stealth on the way over, readying a magic dagger to make a sneak attack…And rolled, IIRC a two.
No more sneak attack, no more surprise, and making an attack meant the invisibility spell was over.
Fortunately the bad guys didn’t do much better trying to counterattack.
I was one of two halflings in the party, and we were tasked with sneaking past a room where a gang of orcs were cooking, drinking and generally making asses of themselves.
Because of the ruckus they were making, the DM decided to make things easy on us and asked us to “just roll and make sure you don’t fumble”… which of course I did…
“Shhh! Did ya hears that?” The orcs stopped dead quiet, and so did the two of us.
The DM was generous and asked us to make another stealth check, which of course – I fumble again… and so to act it out in good fashion, my character exclaimed “I don’t hear anything…”
D’oh!
