In Monstru, there is still quite a lot of animosity between races.
Some of it is due to past injustices, battles, racial inequity, or even simple communication barriers.
This chart shows the general patterns of racism in Monstru:
Now, this doesn’t mean that every Clockwork hates each and every furnace goblin; individuals can always turn their back on racism. However, in general, there is a great deal of distrust (and even violence) between some races, as indicated on the chart.
Why does X hate Y?
Great question. Let’s look at the Clockwork VS goblin situation.
Here, we have a slave race (the goblins) that has been oppressed for hundreds of years. There are hundreds of thousands of them (reducing individuality), and they are the lowest race in society. Heck they usually don’t even capitalize the “g” in “goblin”, and you can buy one for less than a case of MUZZ.
Clockworks, on the other hand, are quite rare, expensive, and hold a very high rank in Authority society. They are well educated, intelligent, and dislike any creature that could crawl up inside of them, and toy with their finely tuned spring mechanisms.
In short, they’re opposites. Clockworks are tall, and never able to stoop to meet the eye of a lowly goblin. Goblins are short, hard working laborers, and can’t understand a creature who’s job it is to sit around spinning glass tops inside of their tik-tock heads.
And so it begins…
Decades ago, a Clockwork refused to allow a goblin to perform routine maintenance on it, seeing how the grubby little creatures also tend to dabble in steam. (And not in the precise elegance of springs and gears.) And yes, it’s paws were filthy.
The word quickly spread to the legions of gobs working in Dept 13, and soon they all realized what kind of a fodd Clockworks really were. They decided to show that Clockwork a lesson by sneaking in at night and hiding a sap-bomb inside of the Clock’s innermost workings, and caused a catastrophe.
The rest is history. The distrust grew every year until today.
I’d like your help.
After reviewing the chart, why do you think X race hates Y?
I know, some of these are a stretch, but I think there could be reasons for any of it. I have some ideas for most of them, but not all. I’d be curious to see what you thought.
Any thoughts?

Somewhere, I have a half brother that I have never met.
I hope to meet him before I die.
That could be good.
Okay, just some thoughts on the dislike between races:
Feratu vs. Zombies: The Feratu dislike zoms for being stupid brutes that give the undead a bad name and the zombie dislike Feratu for being intelligent jerks who take advantage of them.
Hallowe’en Golem vs Vendomat: The Golems see ‘mats as sellouts who live in the cities, while Vendomats probably view Golems as outdated hicks who are long obsolete
Just a few thoughts….
