How Did Things Get So Trashy

Monday is garbage day. (I’m writing this on a Sunday.)

I don’t have any love of garbage, though you might not agree with me if you saw our garage. I have hundreds of old plastic containers, bins of model parts, balsa wood boxes, and loads of other “stuff” I keep around for art projects.

I love having the right material on hand, when I create some sort of “piece*“. I love making new Halloween decorations, strange sculptures, costumes and other oddities that make me happy.

This means that I am compelled to horde every odd shaped bottle cap, every broken appliance, and every pouch of funny colored sand that I come across. If it’s free, that’s even better!

I don’t really know why I’m like this, but I like being this way. Dawna, my beleaguered wife, has to practically beg me to throw something away that I value. (Again, a pouch of sand, or some plastic crystals.) It’s just how it is, I guess.

I’d like to make some puppets in the near future (sometime between 2009-2011), so I’ve been hoarding all kinds of new materials including foam, orange glass, and other junk.

Now, I just need some time to make a new epic-mess.

*No, not that kind of “piece“.

OOOOH Now they are sounding like my kids. It is amazing Beastio and Chadworth sound like my teenagers. Not that either would do some cleaning without begged, bribed, and threatened. Glad to see you made it back from Spokane. I heard they got another 8″ plus yesterday and looking at some rain tomorrow.

When the plates taste better that the food, that makes doing dishes a thing of the past. Me thinks Besatio eats da plates.
