So, this Krampus thing is beginning to turn into an illustrator’s meme.
I didn’t really know what a Krampus was, until this year. Last year, Dawna saw something on TV that featured the Krampus, but since I didn’t see it, my imagination wasn’t captured. But now it is.
I’ve been looking at as much vintage Krampus stuff that I can find, and I have to admit, I dig them very much.
What’s a Krampus?
Krampus is a mythical creature. In various regions of the world – especially Austria– it is believed that Krampus accompanies St. Nicholas during the Christmas season, warning and punishing bad children, in contrast to St. Nicholas, who gives gifts to good children.
The Krampus go around hitting bad children with birch switches, and chaining them up and/or stealing them away in baskets.
Anyway, finding a legend of a monster that is attached to Christmas is pretty cool to me.
Happy Christmas Eve!

“Grub Vom Krampus” means “greetings from the Krampus”? “Merry Krampus”?
Anyone know?

Also, I should not that this is what I thought Santa really looked like until age 9.
Thank you,

It’s a great drawing, but it only ensures your merciless whipping at the cloved hand of the Krampus.
Well, that should be “cloven,” but what the hell. Great drawing, man!
Thanks, Sir! I could fix that for you, but then it would only show you my mercy.
I LOVE IT!! This is the Santa I WISHED for!
Have a very merry whatever-you-celebrate!

Hey, thanks Angela and Nick!
Have a great holiday time yourself.
I would imagine she saw it on the Venture Bros. Christmas special. “Oh, the whole thing is about as real as Kwanza or the Wookies’ “Life Day,” But I find it charming.”
I’m pretty sure the Krumpus can also be seen in A Very Supernatural Christmas when Dean is researching an “Anti-Claus” along with Black Peter and others.
Dude, I love this far more than I can intelligently express. And probably far more than I should.
Happy non-denominational celebration time, Davis Family!!

Awe thanks Dane!
Story interruptus. Cant wait for more! Thanks SteamCrow.
Merry Christmas!
I believe the “grub” should actually be “grüss”. I think I remember from German class that two S’s are written as a B in German. As far as the meaning…? I think “greetings from” is correct.
Here is http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Gru%C3%9F

Yeah, if you do some Krampus image searches on the Goog, you’ll see about as many “grub” as you’ll see “gruss”. So, I went with the grub.
