Get Them Steampunks

A few of my favorite things, Feb 3rd 2010:

  • Rickenbacker guitars (600 weeks running)
  • Pot pies
  • Shogun Warrior big plastic robot toys
  • Mike Mignola, Mucha, Rhode Montijo, James Jean, DiTerlizzi (etc) artworks
  • Halloween decorations and ephemera
  • Arts and Crafts bungalow homes
  • Playing roleplaying games with good friends
  • Neil Gaimen books
  • Corn dogs and other foods that come on sticks
  • Good movies (As in movies that I personally enjoy; YMMV)
  • Touma vinyl toys
  • My computer before the monitor usb and camera failed
  • Plastic Galactic hero toys, and any cartoony SD figs
  • Hellboy comic books
  • StarCraft. Wow. And other video games that I don’t dare touch
  • Monster Manuals of all sorts
  • Very firm mustache wax
  • Bad movies
  • Firefly and Joss Whedon in general (NIRD!)
  • Beats Antique
  • Apples, cheese and wine

This is what comes to mind, today at least.

    Your Monitor, USB portz and Camera all died? What did they make your computer out of, Cardboard?

    • Daniel

      Well, I probably shouldn’t have treated it like a portable computer. Stopped working after I moved the damned heavy thing. I need an iMac.

      • Marrock

        Why, got a boat you need an anchor for?

    That round inset panel of Dirk Circus so needs to be a button.

    • Daniel

      Hey, that could be done. Indeedy!

      Thanks for the idea!

    Where does one get mustache wax these days?

    • Daniel

      So that’s a funny thing.

      There are a variety of specialized mustache waxes available online, but I’m a hobo, and would rather not pay so much ($12 and up) for wax.

      I’ve been using “pomade” which is wax for your hair, which has been working okay. My mustache isn’t all at the same length yet, which is what makes it hold together. This wax isn’t doing the trick.

      SO, I’ve been trying to find a new wax.

      This weekend, I found it! YES! A mustache wax that is nice and strong, with light but pleasant scent, and easily available and cheap.

      Murray’s Hairdressing Pomade – Since 1925!

      Murray's Hair Dressing pomade

      3 oz. was less than $2, which should last a solid year. It was found at a Walmart grocery store, in the African American haircare section.

      “It’s good stuff.”

        Right, I must now grow my moustache back!

        The only other good advice I have had before is “Black and White Pluko Hair Dressing Pomade”, so your advice tallies, cheers.

    Hmm. a few current & perennial favorites:
    * The insane anime/comic crossover fanfic Journey which has added Hellboy to a mix already including Ranma 1/2, Sailor Moon, and Nanoha
    * Laptops with fully functional monitors
    * The View Source command
    * Chocolate milk (Mmmm, chocolate milk goes with everything
    * Paychecks
    * forum RPGs (which I’m sadly non-active in right now)
    * My DSLR (Nikon D40, cheap, no-frills, but good)
    * Webcomics in general, but especially Monster Commute, the Cyantian Chronicals & Alien Dice, Slightly Damned, Crimson Flag and Ekwara.
    * Non-DRMed ebooks.

    I’m going to have to try mustache waxing and see if it will make mine happier.
