Today is Free Comic Book Day. (Or “FCBD” for short.)
What this means is that you can probably go to your local Comic Book store, and they’ll have a bunch of titles for you to pick out, for free. I myself got hooked on the excellent Umbrella Academy last year, on the strength of the art and writing. (And the James Jean covers didn’t hurt, either.)
I’m going to be doing a signing at SpazDog comics, in the Northwest Phoenix Valley. (And yes, it’s the store that’s depicted in today’s first-ever Saturday strip.) I’ll be there with some other local artists from 12:00 to 3:00, and I hope to see you there.
To make this more interesting, I’m giving away 100 signed and numbered mini-prints to the first 100 people who ask for them. For free.

Yes, I know that giving things away for free isn’t really helping the bottom line with our business. But, I figure that if I go that extra mile and do these kinds of things, people may be more motivated to come see me in the future.
Plus, it’s also a favor to the fans and also to the kind folks who run SpazDog; Monica and Shawn Demumbrum. They’ve been very supportive of my work since the first time that we met. I really appreciate that. (I’m giving them the only 12×18 version of this piece.)
Hope to see you out there!

Oui, free! Very nice work
Daniel,
Thanks so much for coming to our Free Comic Book Day. The Monster Commute FCBD exclusive was great. So much fun. Great people and food. Free Comics. What better day could you hope for. Thanks for your endless support of our store.
