Monster Commute – a Traffic Novel

Five things you may not know about MONSTRU:

1. Furnace Goblins have few rights. They’re the slave race, that the entire MONSTRU economy is built upon. No one is sure how many their are, because they were not counted in any past census.
2. Economy? The entire country has been in the Great Recession for the last 200 years. Maybe more. Nobody has jobs, and next to nothing is manufactured, but everyone seems to make due somehow.
3. The Black Market is the real foundation to the economy, where people trade what they need from the auto next door. CrowBucks are for the rich, or for bribing CrowBots.
4. Coal is still fairly cheap, largely due to the nationalization of the coal industry. Trucks of the stuff are often hijacked, which then let’s it flow into the Black Market. BlackRok, the supercoal that burns for years, has further lead to the collapse of the coal market.
5. Everybody lives in their cars, in constant migration looking for the next opportunity or odd job. Heck, with the price of real estate, people can really only afford living in cars.
