There is little more that I hate, than a culture of haters.
I’ve probably babbled about this before, and I’m no peacenik hippy… but I think it simply takes little effort, power, or commitment to hate something.
But it takes balls to stand up and actually like something. You’ve got to know who you are, what you like, and be able to stand up for it. We don’t all have to agree, but at least we ought to respect that you’ve put yourself out there.
To hate is to sneer, and well, that’s easy. There’s just no risk.
And while I really love most of this information revolution called “the internetz” there’s one thing about it that I can’t take: anonymous haters. It’s just too easy to hate stuff, and it’s seemingly become the passion of a loud minority of the web.
No, I’m not telling you anything that you don’t know. And no, nobody’s pissed me off for a while with some crappy review. I’ve just come out of a medicated stuppor for the last few weeks, and I’m spicy as taco flavored Salty Yums.
So, I challenge you today to step up and talk about something that you like, and simply ignore something that you don’t.
What are you into? What do you like? (Not fishing for Steam Crow lovin, either.)

Bicycles…
I love working on them, talking about them, reading about them, and, above all, riding them.
I can expound at length about them, much to the chagrin to anyone around at the time.
To me they are the perfect machine.
Cool, I dig bikes too. You’d prolly get along well with Ethan, he digs bicycles too, and bikes to work. (I used to do that too, it was great.)
I want one of those old victorian huge front wheeled bikes… or a really nice fixed up vintage cruiser looking thing. I once saw a bike called “the paperboy” which really ruled.

For myself, I want to get one of these: http://www.hiwheel.com/antique_replicas/1891new_mail.htm
I’m just not sure if it’d go with the Vigilante suit I want from Gentleman’s Emporium.
Wow those are awesome, though I’d likely kill myself with one. I’d be like an olive on a toothpick.
Not at all, my friend.
Larger gentleman cyclists are referred to as Clydesdales and the ladies are Athenas.
Besides, the more you ride the less of you there’ll be to worry about.
LOL!
I’m a clydesdale!
Hockey and photography are two things I really love. I was on vacation this past week and had a great time taking photos–I really need to invest in a digital SLR camera, my little point and shoot just doesn’t do it for me any more.
Hockey is the only sport I’m in to and I don’t really know why. I just like it.
That’s cool. Having a good camera just makes taking good photos that much easier.
As for hockey, I support that. I’ve only been to one or two games, but it was fun.
I have an unexplainable attraction to watching UFC. I don’t know why, though I imagine that it’s somehow tied to our core flight/fight dealio.
Photography is definitely my first love after my kids. Go get that dSLR. You will be hooked, sucked into the abyss, and never let out. It’s an addiction I tell ya.
(I know a guy that rides his Pennyfarthing Bicycle in parades and stuff – very cool)
I am a control freak. I like walking 5 dogs and have them ALL exactly where I want them.
Nothing like a freshly trimmed lawn, bread baking and the sound of my motorcycle at 60 MPH.
The reason I live is my bride and my granddaughters.
I really enjoy watching people of great talent do what they do best. I have a friend that is an excellent guitarist and it was amazing to watch him play guitar. Same goes for artists, or chefs, or anyone else doing what they do best. There is something fascinating about it.
I also really enjoy making things. Comics, music, painting, building with LEGOs, etc. Speaking of comics, I uploaded a bunch of random drawings I’ve done lately on my art page, which happens to be the link on my name, if you want to take a look.
I like making stuff! More than that, I like learning to make stuff. Best of all is learning to make something, and then finding out that you can do it well.
I like to get over-excited and chat in furious detail about how to make whatever it is that has my current attention, and how it works. (Sorry ’bout that, rest of the world.)
I like to travel to conventions and meet wonderful people who also like stuff, even stuff I don’t like. Oh, and especially stuff I do like, but don’t know about yet!
I like origami. I have a difficult time being passionate about it because the Puritan in me argues it doesn’t need drawers full of paper figures that I made just for the pleasure of it. But I can definitely say I like it.
And James, I agree about learning to make something being a great like. Something about a new process and feeling my gray matter expand is just fantastic.
